Pet Disaster Preparedness
Most disaster shelters will not accept pets because of health and safety regulations, so it is imperative that you have determined where you will take your pets.
- Contact your veterinarian
- Contact hotels and motels to find out if they are "pet friendly"
- Ask friends and relatives outside your immediate area if they would be willing to take in your pet
- Reduced cost boarding. See our list of local boarding facilities to contact for assistance.
- Note: Hotels, motels and boarding facilities will need written proof of current vaccinations for your animal. We offer our low cost clinic every Wednesday and Friday from 1:30 to 3:30 and the 1st Saturday of every month from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Your pet will need to be current on vaccinations before these places will be able to assist you.
